The ability to manage one’s health is of paramount importance. In today’s America, the physical well-being of the people is often hampered by obscene price tags, misinformation, and a sheer lack of resources and providers. Bilal envisions a future where, when instructed to seek treatment, a patient’s first response is not, “How much,” or, “How far,” but is instead enthusiasm knowing they will get the help they need and that it won’t cost them valuable time and money to do so.
As Delegate, he will make our communities healthier by:
- Fighting to ensure that all employers in the Commonwealth have the means to provide long-term paid parental leave.
- Investigating the viability of Free Clinics and working with local community leaders to improve their resources where they exist and establish them where they do not.
- Advocating for the prioritization of mental health and implement structural reforms within the healthcare system to ensure it receives the same level of emphasis and attention as physical health.
- Collaborating with local providers to enhance training and internship opportunities for recent graduates in underserved communities, enabling them to offer expanded services, including free preventive screenings.
